So there is this thing that I know for a fact that no one used to like when they were a kid. NAP TIME! I know I really hated naps because I would be playing with my toys in the middle of the day at daycare or after morning church and then I would hear “It’s nap time!” My heart would sink to the pit of my stomach because I knew I would have to stop playing.
I would have to lay down knowing I was not tired and think about what I was going to play with when I was allowed to get up, and before I knew it, I would be off into dream land. I really miss those days because I had no worries at all. Now that I am in college full time and work full time, me and naps are best friends. I long for the next time in my day when I can close my eyes for just a couple of hours to get some sleep.
Something I know we used to love was RECESS!! Our teachers would make us line up at the door and we would be itching with anticipation to see who could get on the swings or jungle gym first. Then we would walk slowly and what would seem like 20 miles to the playground and then the teacher would give us the okay. Everyone would run in every different direction.
It was the best feeling being outside and not having to do school work even though it was just learning letters or basic math. I know kids don’t realize how good they have it until they are in college in my situation. Even though every two years of my younger years I broke a bone on the playground, I still loved my recess. I really do miss those days and I’m pretty sure if you are human, you miss them too. Haha

Did you ever have to write sentences as a kid? We did.
ReplyDeleteIf one kid in the class got in trouble...the whole class did. So when all the classes went out to recess, our class sat out in the sun on tables and wrote sentences...over...and over again.
I remember once the sun burnt a whole in my paper.
You'd think that this would create some type team unity and discipline among us but as kids we weren't capable of that cohesiveness.
Another thing. During recess we'd always start of with a relay race. One day I mixed things up and brought a key-thingy from Power Rangers Turbo that flicked open. The relay team who got that key with the race could "lock" other kids out of certain doors (swingsets and jungle gyms) for 5 seconds.
Some other kid called it a switchblade and got me taken up.
During nap time I always slept next to, talked to and even kissed the girls. This was at like age 3 to 5. I was suave.
Fun fact. Good amount of naptime is good for us too if you can afford it with your schedule.
As adults, our target naptime is between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM and all you need is 20 minutes of sleep in that period. No more...no less...and it will really help you through the day.
I actually hated recess. I hated being outside and it seemed like a waste of time. Funny thing is, now that I'm an adult I'm more like a kid than I used to be. I mean, I'm doing my blog on cartoons.
ReplyDeleteNaptime I do miss...
Once, I accidentally bumped heads with a kid during recess and we both passed out. When I woke up, they asked me who the president was and I replied, "Abe Lincoln?" Recess and pretty much everything else since then just hasn't been the same.
